1948 Indian Chief Bobber:

Original 74 cubic inch Flathead engine and 3-speed gear box with hand shift and rocker foot clutch

Correct 5.00 X 16 Coker reproduction Carlisle Indian tires, original girder forks with and polished steel finish. Correct 1948 date coded engine. 51 miles since restoration.

Engine, gearbox, primary & clutch rebuilt by former Krumms Indian (Austin, TX) restoration shop manager. Restoration also included new US made reproduction gas tanks, brakes, wheel bearings, seals, rebuilt front end, rebuilt correct Linkert carburetor, period correct reproduction Indian racing air horn, original style cloth wiring harness, alternator & belt, Indian factory accessory “Hollywood bar” handlebars, control cables, taillight, headlight, horn, leather seat, seat springs, spark plugs. 12-volt single wire alternator conversion with AGM battery.

Fenders fabricated from 1937 Buick spare tire cover retaining the original black finish. Genuine leather seat. 1937 Ford pickup taillight. Amber show headlight lens has been replaced with correct clear Motolamp clear lens.

Original parts & finishes retained as much as possible to preserve originality and patina.

Exhibited at the 2022 Revival Cycles Invitational Handbuilt Motorcycle Show. Featured by Michael Lichter Photography, Revival Cycles as well as numerous other sites and magazines.

Genuine post war bobber style; stock 1940’s American V-Twin motorcycle. Extra speed came from simple weight reduction. Riders stripped these motorcycles of all “non-essential” parts such as large fenders, saddlebags, trim and so forth. Light weight “bobbed” fenders were fabricated from junk yard spare tire covers for a couple of bucks.

Men & women rode these motorcycles in the 50’s & 60’s. No reason you can’t too with some practice & focus.
